Yes if I am going back to Dublin I may as well take checked baggage.

If you book Miami - Heathrow - Dublin they only have to get you to Dublin. They could re-route you via other than Heathrow if they need to for operational reasons. Small risk, but a risk none the less.0

This type scenario has been discussed to death on Flyertalk, have you looked on their forum? BA are starting to clamp down on this practice.0
