What is so important about Internet banking, that every time a site goes down people moan on Twitter, it's on the news and a post on here. If you want to know your balance that much go to a cash machine. Seriously how often do people log in? I log in once s month to pay credit card bills, and that is once s month to much in my opinion0

It was fixed around half nine last night I think.
Some people like to check their balance every day. Or don't want to walk to a cash machine. I personally only use cash machines in the local bank, the nearer ones are in the open.0 -
It's because the banks promote it as the way forward, providing banking services 24/7 so that customers can manage their money at their own convenience rather than having to go into branches during working hours, etc. Of course, the flip side is that the more online banking people do then the fewer front-line employees banks need, so it's not entirely altruistic, but personally I can't remember the last time I went to a branch (or dealt with a bank call centre) for my routine banking, which doesn't just entail finding out my balance but includes paying bills, transferring funds to other people or my own other accounts, etc. What is so important about Internet banking, that every time a site goes down people moan on Twitter, it's on the news and a post on here. That's not to say that some reactions aren't a bit over-dramatic but that's what Twitter is there for!0 -

Two things.
1) If internet banking is down there is a distinct possibility that access to your account through an ATM will be unavailable too.
2) If you're only using your internet banking once a month, and then only to make a payment, then you are leaving yourself more open to fraud or mistakes than those of us who use it more frequently are.0 -
If that credit card bill didn't get paid because you couldn't log in, would you still be so dismissive? What is so important about Internet banking, that every time a site goes down people moan on Twitter, it's on the news and a post on here. I log in a few times a month to move money around to meet funding requirements and cover direct debits. So far I've never had a problem, but an unfortunately timed unavailability could get expensive for some people.Eco Miser
