Scottish Power Final Bill

Options
I switched away from Scottish Power in October and have just received my credit refund but I believe that I'm short.

I did a back of the envelope calculation with opening and closing readings (actual) and dates using the rates on my closing bill and it looks like my refund is about £90 short. I was on a few different tariffs at various times so I'm going to do some more detailed calculations with the different rates.

I'm finding my online account too hard to follow. Can anyone tell me how discounts work at Scottish power, I was on dual fuel direct debit, is this a flat amount discount or a discount off the rate. If it is a flat amount (eg £30 a year) should I be proportioning that per day in the part year?

The more I look at this, the better idea switching away seems....

Thanks!

  • Right I found the rates on uswitch and just started again with calculating the charges.

I have meter readings opening, closing (agreed to new supplier) and the day after tariff change.

I added up standing charge for the period, took off online and dual fuel discounts for the period then added on the usage charges for the 2 periods. I then added on 5% VAT.

Then I took that off my payments and what's left is what I'm owed?

Have I got the wrong end of the stick? I can't understand how they've made 6 months fuel seem so complicated...

It looks like some of my bills cover the same period more than once eg I got an estimated bill so I went on to enter readings about a week later but both bills go back to the previous bill but both have come off my online balance. No wonder my direct debit was going up and up and hardly staying in credit.

What do I do now? Make a complaint? Should I be asking them to scrub the other bills and rebill from the beginning? Does anyone have any idea how long this will take to resolve?

Perhaps in the first instance ask them for a breakdown of how they came to conclude they owed you £x amount?

I would ignore all the estimated bills, and concentrate solely on the actual bills.

Shouldn't be too difficult to work out from the bills how much they actually owe you by the end. They would have had to bill you for the usage up until the end date as well, so make sure you're taking that into account too.

Have you switched tariff to another scottish power tariff while you were with them?

Why not put the raw confirmed (not estimated) meter readings and dates here and I am sure other including myself will have ago at calculating your bill.

Don't forget to put the tariff you were on and unit rates (they can be different according to where you live).
