  • No, no property, no savings, no possessions of any value. My dad was a very compact and simple man.

Mother in Law died on a Friday 21st... I registered death on the Monday 24th. Filled out the tell us once online the next day or so... Letter from DWP regarding overpayment of pension (and AA?) was dated 27th. Less than a week from the death and days from notification (via Registrar). So they are very fast in asking for repayment (at least for simple non means tested benefits) once advised of death.

So I suspect, as others have said, as there are no overpayments of pension/non-means-tested benefits in your case, they haven't written to you.

BTW they asked us for the overpayments at the same time as clawing them back from the (closed) Bank Account before we obtained Probate. To obtain 'written closure' from the DWP I returned the repayment request 'payment' slip along with the letter from her Bank... They replied that all was now straight.
