It is likely to take a few days longer than that for the pre-authorization to expire and the funds to become available again in your account, it's a common procedure and nothing can usually be done to speed it up. Meanwhile, that amount is not available to you, as you observe, but it will 'unfreeze'. You have got off lightly if, as expected, you don't actually lose anything, and luckily you have spare funds to purchase tickets before the prices rise - and no doubt you are wiser from the experience...

I suggest that you discuss this with your card issuer: in case of any unreasonable delay in the money again being made available to you, ask them to do a 'charge-back' to get the funds back instantly.

    They can't do a chargeback on pre-authorisations.

oh 100% wiser now and wont be using any sites like those again.
they sent me a message saying it could take up to 21 days, i hope not as ive forked out the money for the flights and the villa and i need to get car hire and theme park tickets booked soon too and im relying on the £1600 they have frozen out of my account!!
