Halifax Clarity Card or not...?

I wanted one for use abroad. Having applied for one and been accepted I received the card. Nowhere on the card, on the online account or in the literature does it say "Clarity".

Furthermore the seemingly generic "Halifax Credit Card" leaflet states there's a 2.95% usage fee abroad. Also a cash withdrawal fee of 3%

It seems like Halifax have arbitrarily decided not to send me a Clarity card but a normal one instead. Anyone else had this done to them?

  • From what i can tell, if it's got a white border and is blue/purple it's Clarity. My online banking just says 'Halifax MasterCard' but if go to view the statement PDF it says clarity on there.

Thanks just got off the phone to them. It is a Clarity Card - the nice man said that if the second set of digits is 0300 then that is the Clarity branding.

He also said if planning to use the card abroad to use a link on the online banking site to tell Halifax where you are going otherwise the card would not work abroad (fraud protection). Glad he told me that because I had no idea that was necessary!

Make sure that the statements don't say this (on the back).
It has to be 'None' and 'Payment scheme exchange rate'.
