Sound Bar for LG TV.

My LG TV ( model 27MA43D) does not seem to have any out sockets only In sockets . I know this sounds daft but is there any way to connect a sound bar to it ?

Does it have a headphones socket If you are really stuck you can attach PC speakers to that.

Do you use a Sky box or Youview or similar to record TV on? If so these have audio output for a sound bar.

The specs say the TV has HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel), so a soundbar with an HDMI input should do the job. The first one I looked at on Richer Sounds (Yamaha YAS93) has HDMI input. Not recommending it particularly, it was just the first soundbar that came up.
I use an HDMI connection to feed the sound from my Samsung TV into a separate amplifier. Works a treat as it also automatically powers up the amp when the TV is switched on.

You can get an audio I/P from the scart connector (pins 1-4) Connector avaliable from Maplin @99p here

Dependent upon the sound bar you may have RCA phono I/P sockets
(Unfortunately most now seem to have only HDMI/Optic).

Do a google search for soundbar with rca input and you will also find them plus other info re your dilemma

That MAY work - however, it would appear that (like the other connections on this particular device) the scart connector is for input only.
    Unusual though that may be.

Well it looks like you can defiantly connect a HDMI sound bar to the TV if the TV has SIMPLINK facilities

Looking through the 27MA43D Manual here page 36 shows the remote control has an SIMPLINK option ( not mentioned in the spec as far as I can see.)

If the sound bar has the SIMPLINK logo (Iguess most LG soundbars are equipped?)then according to this link there is a sentence which says something along the lines If you want to output sound to the external device through the HDMI cable then switch SIMPLINK to ON, presumably on TV settings menu in this case. It also mentions you must use a HDMI cable with CEC function presumably a pin 13 connection

Apologies, I mis-read the specs for the Yamaha unit. There is however a Sony one for the same price which does have HDMI input.
