Pre-fab garage or concrete shed - added value?

Hi
We are awaiting a quote for either a concrete garage and one for a concrete shed.
Both are from a well respected local company and similar ones look nice when painted.
The part of the garden that we are looking at using seems right for a garage as it is at the end of the drive (next door have had a garage since we moved in and it looks like it is meant to be there, ours would look similar). The area is already hardstanding and has a small shed and a large dog kennel which we have sold....the dogs live inside now as we got soft!
Just wondering if a concrete shed (call it a workshop) or pre-fab garage with light and electrics would add any value?
We're possibly moving in the coming years so if it doesn't usually add value, we probably wont bother.
Thanks

It is unlikely to add more value than the cost, unless it is something you want and will use I wouldn't bother. That said it might make the house more saleable as it will be a requirement for many.0

Perhaps added value wasn't the right term. If it increased the value enough to cover it's cost, that's all I would want. A garage would be really useful for us, even if we are only here for another year or so0

90% of garages (if you believe this) are not used for cars, they are best used for conversion! Look at no 4 in the list of top 20 things to do .....http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/property/buying-selling-moving/7906602/Phil-Spencers-top-20-ways-to-add-value-to-your-home.html
On the other hand those who want a garage for a car will pay for one. I compromised by buying a property where the work had not yet been done then did it myself.0 -
It comes on the check list of many house hunters.
Find out how much it would cost to have a Good sized pre fab concrete sectional garage would cost including erection.
Make sure you have modern LED lighting both inside and outside.
A couple of double sockets will make the garage more useful.0 -
It won't add any more value than its cost, as anyone buying from you could buy their own, which would then also be newer.0
