Failing the probation period

I'm confused. I'm sure you don't mean it but this seems to read like you can see why people hate apprentices as your daughters were apprentices! It doesn't seem flattering on your daughters
Lol.....hate apprentices should of been 'hate apprentices', it was in reply to your sentence where you said something on the lines of ' if the op really hated apprentices'...Anyway does anyone else think this thread as degenerated into a playground argument? There's obviously something in the air because the forums are littered with infantile squabbles, more than is the norm.0 -

This person's behaviour is causing me a lot of stress because I spend an inordinate amount of my time managing their sub-standard and inexpert contributions to the projects that I lead.
You need to start managing the schedules to take account of the failure of this persons manager to deliver a resource capable of doing the job.
Delivery dates slipping should get the attention of the management and stakeholder for the project, also make sure the bosses boss knows what s going on.0 -
OP I think if you'd come here asking how you could get someone removed from your project team rather than how they could be got rid off you would have received more sympathy.0
-
OP that is what probationary periods are for to find out if people are actually up to the job, and you quite rightly expressed that in your opinion they are not up to it. I am surprised that your manager hasn't asked for your opinions or that of your team.
It implies his manager doesn't value his opinion much, if at all.0 -
Trying to get someone sacked because they annoy you is loathe some. You running around asking everyone else if they dislike or are annoyed by this person is probably far more annoying than a newbie settling in.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0

Jesus Christ.
OP you sounds like an extremely disgusting human being to work with. I cannot believe you actually are going out of your way in your company to get this person fired, under the pretence of 'they're incapable'.
this is nothing more than you feeling threatened with a coworker on your project and you're doing everything in your power to potentially ruin this persons career, just because 'they annoy you'.
Karma will get you big time.0 -

Isn't your first sentence harsh?
So it's all fine and dandy for the boss to do it, but obscene for the OP to suggest it?0 -
nope. what OP is doing is vile.
Remember, when you're digging a hole for someone, make sure you dig another one for yourself.
But Karma never forget a face or name so let OP carry on.0 -
This thread is absolutely abhorrent, I'm not quite sure why you're so gleefully discussing this person being fired as it's some sort of points scoring exercise with you. All because you don't like their personality. Unfortunately work throws us together with all kinds of people. If you don't like that I suggest you simply don't work for fear of not liking someone and doing your utmost to get them sacked.
In January a new person started, working alongside me. She wasn't up to speed on everything. But being a decent human being I've sat with her for the past two weeks, and gone through everything there is to know. She's picking things up slowly but surely and one day she will be great at this job. I didn't go running to my manager to say she's rubbish and insist she's moved away from me. She slows my day down but you know what? I get so much satisfaction from knowing I'm helping someone.
You're expecting instant results from someone who is new to the job who you're tasked with settling in and helping, and instead you're trying to get rid of them?
What happens when the next one comes in that's exactly the same? I'd hate for anyone to be new and learning the role alongside you.
The simple fact is you don't like this person, and want them out. And in all honesty I hope they discover this thread and it's you in the firing line for bringing the company into disrepute.
Ps. And to wake up in the middle of the night worrying about work - you really need a better work life balance0
