Halifax website errors have left credit check records

Hi,
A couple of times in December I tried to apply for a Halifax credit card and the website gave me an error ("Our credit reference agency is not responding").
However I've just been doing a routine check of my credit files and I can see that both times a search was recorded (with Call Credit). Obviously this will affect my ability to get other credit products. Given that it was their error (certainly the fact that I ended up having two searches recorded), is there any way or chance that I could get them to remove the record? I assume Halifax would have to do this rather than the CRAs?
Many thanks.

I also had a double search recorded by them late last year (but for a current account.) In my case it was a technical error that caused the application not to go through when I agreed to the terms etc on the last page. When I rang them, they said they couldn't retrieve it and that I'd have to apply for a second time. Annoying.0

Well I spoke to them this afternoon (submitted a complaint online) and they said they would have the searches removed! I'll report back if this actually occurs...0

Not sure if this is related, but I made a mortgage application recently and Halifax carried out 3 separate on the single application. Initially I thought it was an error on the Experian report so queried it with them, they in turn contacted Halifax and 2 of the searches have since been removed.0
