Tax return courses?

Does anyone know of any courses for self employed and tax returns. I am sure HMRC used to do one online but can't find it now.
I am self employed and always completed my own returns as things used to be simple.
However as my business has grown some I want to be sure I am claiming correctly.
Decided this after paying a BIG tax bill this month that I am sure could have been shrunken with a full understanding of what I can and can't claim for. I find myself not claiming for fear of pushing my luck when I know full well others do so.

Employ an accountant - they will probably save you their fee in the first year.
They spend years training to get the detailed knowledge you need and then further training every year (CPD) to ensure they are up to date with tax legislation that changes constantly.0 -
Any courses run by HMRC will always be biased in their favour - they're never going to give you hints and tips on loopholes etc.
Colleges etc don't do courses because tax law is constantly changing by statute and also by case law, so any course would be immediately out of date.
An accountant is really the answer. The majority of businesses use an accountant. They wouldn't do that if they didn't think it was worthwhile.0
