Can anyone recommend a good powerful microwave they have and are happy with please. We only ever use a microwave for everything , don't bother with the oven. We bought a replacement from Tesco about 3 months ago and it's not very good
.
We could cook a whole chicken in our old one in about 25 mins but this one is only a 900 and it takes well over an hour. The old one was 1000. And we could do with one with easy instructions too please

glad it all turned out better than you thought, at that age they have a way of terrifying you - we are always veterans of the scared rush to hospital with the eldest who had very dramatic febrile convulsions - you don't hear of them much now, have they gone out of fashion.
I thought croup was out of fashion as well - just horses got it - possibly its just called something else now
Mmm Lee had three febrile convulsions when he was a baby years ago . All on a Sunday within a couple of months . Very strange.0 -

This is how the BG works on a 'normal' shop. I've just found a Mr T receipt in A's carpark and, of course, I always like to know how they got that 'deduction'.

As you can see, they ended up getting £1.33 off their T bill as it was too expensive overall on the brands compared to Mr A - and they probably thought 'great, £1.33 less to pay'. But how much more overpayment have they given to Mr T as a result of how the comparison works?

Well, for starters, they don't get any of the cheaper prices of Mr S, since their branded bill was cheaper overall vs A, so they have paid the full (more expensive than S) T price on these three items to Mr T. ...0 -
If they had not bought these three items at all from Mr T and had instead bought them from S they would have paid 79p less (on Mr T's information) so that instead of paying £1.33 overall less they would have paid £2.12 less, just at this point (omitting three items and buying them at a cheaper competitor for those).
Next, those Heinz soups have cost them 9p a pop by being bought on the shop they were on.

If they had omitted all these items from this shop, they would have had a deduction of 45p more. They could then have bought them on a separate shop from Mr T - even staying in the same store and doing it ten minutes later (so no extra travel cost at all) - the Sains. btw is literally across the road from this Mr T so virtually no travel cost there either (to buy the three items there). Total 'overpayment' now £2.81. More than double their 'deduction'! This is just by buying the exact same items but on different shops.
Of course, they also 'lost' 50p on the WW Chocolate Brownies as they were more expensive at Mr A (£3.31 - do you want me to keep going? - that's now £1.98 more than the £1.33 deduction that Mr T actually gave them). Then they lost a penny by buying the Ribena at T instead of buying it at Morrisons. M is also fairly nearby; however maybe it would have cost more than 1p to get to there - the real point is that that was best not bought at this moment but instead - as it's 'full price' everywhere - waited until it was on special offer and then probably saved a further £1.24.
If we go into this, I laughed when I saw the Philadelphia 180g compared to £1 at A, as I would normally get Philadelphia 280g when they were £1 (they are not at the moment but was not so long ago as to be impossible for them to have lasted - M's offer end of last year) so, in effect, that's another overpayment lost - works out at about 36p per tub - so, let's call it 71p. (It's probably near 72p.)
The Ribena for a penny cheaper may not have been worth going to M for. They may have saved £2.49 by not buying it at all:rotfl:. But, let's exclude that option, as they really needed it, they could have gone to M and got the Tiger Baguette there at 50p. Another 25p lost as T no longer compares own brands.
But, even if not, the thing is -
Tesco comparable total £35.18 £31.07 £27.18
Competitor shop total £33.85 £36.40 £31.69
The difference £1.33 -£5.33 -£4.51
that they got a £1.33 'deduction' against Mr A - paying the full T cost of their own brands - but that, if they'd gone to Mr A and bought all the brands there, even when Mr A was cheaper and some were more expensive at T, they would, on T's calculation, have paid Mr A £33.85 - the exact same cost as they paid T anyway - and then - this is buying all the exact same branded items and same number but at Mr A - they could have paid the same £33.85 but then got £2.19 voucher from the APG as A isn't 10% cheaper:rotfl: (that's assuming that W wasn't even cheaper on the comparables and then may have got more). They used no T-specific vouchers or coupons - they did collect some CC points, but the value of those would not be £2.19 - so, if they'd bought the exact same brands from Mr A, would have paid the exact same as they did but have a £2.19 voucher off their next Mr A shop. The best part of it is that this receipt was found in a Mr A carpark, so they've actually visited Mr A anyway and therefore would have gone there in what they were already going to do!
In fact the voucher at Mr A - going from T's calculations on the brands - could have been more as the Tiger Baguette might have compared, even against T at 75p, for about 7p more on the voucher and the Chestnut Mushrooms would also have been £1 A vs £1 T so could have been a further 10p. I notice the Chestnut Mushrooms are 80p at S at the moment:rotfl:. So, that's another 20p loss on the first calculation (taking out the three cheaper at S items and buying there - could actually have bought the Mushrooms at S too).
Then there's the £1.19 cup-a-soups! Of which - they obviously thought £1.19 was okay for them (or, more likely, didn't think about the cost) - they only got the price of 50p for one of them. They paid Mr T £1.19 for the other one! That's because Mr A does not have Tomato & Basil - however, if they had gone to Mr A, they would probably have picked up a different Tomato version of Batchelor's cupsoup instead and paid A 50p for that! Careful - not on the same shop as they check on the APG later:rotfl: (as that would reduce the £2.19 or a bit more).
The other soups - the Heinzs - are in fact 59p for A because they bought the wrong number for A's mbuy - so it is calculated as 4 for £2.00 plus one at full price 95p = £2.95 divided by 5 = 59p each. They are 50p straight at T. So, if they'd bought one fewer soup on their shop, they would not then have lost that 45p at all (50p vs 59p x5) - their bill, with one less soup, would have been £1.78 deduction instead of £1.33, plus they'd pay 50p less for not buying the fifth soup, and then could have bought that separately at 50p (even remaining in T). This would have meant a saving of 45p that they have paid T for, because they bought the fifth soup on the same shop. They should have bought in A for 10% cheaper than T, as, even on A's mbuy they are price-matched, or should have got them much earlier - and they would have lasted well until now - when there was a glitch and worked out at about 10p each.
In short, there, a much more expensive shop at T with only a £1.33 deduction, when they could have paid in total £3.51 less had they taken out the cheaper at S items (the three branded items plus the mushrooms), then could have had an approx. £2.26 voucher (like cash) in their pocket now had they bought all the same brands that compared to A at A (more if they had separated out the items that were more than 10% cheaper in A than T) and would probably have saved a further 69p by getting an alternative Tomato cupsoup than the £1.19 one they bought at T (let's assume they were more clever and bought that separately at A) - but I need to take 19p off them as they wouldn't have 'saved' by then buying that in S at £1 instead of T at £1.19, so I need to reduce the items they buy at S and thus the saving by buying at S is 19p less than the initial amount I gave. But, in total, still probably well over £6 less instead of the £1.33 they actually got at T!:rotfl: The shopper has probably ended up at least £5 worse off - or a lot more if they had separated their shops in A and bought only not 10% cheaper than T items on one of them and the rest, that were well cheaper in A, in A separately. And they've paid the full bill - less the £1.33 - including the full T cost of the items that were better bought at S - to T.
They've paid the £33.85 to T, which has not given them the £2.19 voucher that they could have had by buying the exact same items at A, plus the full higher T cost instead of S's cheaper prices on the three branded items there (which weren't available in A), plus the full cost of T's own brands, some of which are cheaper elsewhere (and some of which could have increased an APG voucher vs T had the equivalents been bought in A with all the same brands they actually bought they could have got there for the same instore payment as they paid to T for them).0 -
