I would not fancy staying in Tijuana (beggars follow you everywhere) but we are going to Tulum in JuneTotally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0

We went to Playa del Carmen (Riviera Maya)...more for couples than the other areas.
We stayed in a hotel called Secrets Maroma. Not cheap but we loved it so much we ended up going back the year after!"More people would learn from their mistakes if they weren't so busy denying them." - Harold J. Smith:cool:0 -
As mentioned Mexico is a big place, you need to work out what you want from your holiday then ask question again.0

We liked the Grand Palladium in Akumal, Riviera Maya. We stayed in the Kantenah section.0

I can assure you not all of them are "really nice"!0

I would highly recommend the el dorado royale in riviera maya if you fancy an all inclusive.
It's adults only, gourmet inclusive. Lots of restaurants to choose from and really great food.0 -
If you're up for something out of the ordinary the Copper Canyon is stunning and there are some great hotels with character run by local Mexicans that are worth visiting. The train ride is worth it and the hiking down into the canyon and back is exhausting but interesting as well as spectacular.
I'd also recommend whale watching in the Sea of Cortez but to experience it properly you'd need to be on a live aboard boat.
As has been said Mexico is a big country !0 -

Ok mayb I didn't word it right
We have friends who have been to Riviera Maya and they keep saying we would love Mexico, so just thought would try and get other views on hotels and areas.
We are a family of 4 with teenage children, would blooming for all inclusive, but not essential.
Have no idea what areas are nice and what are not. We usually only go to canary islands, fancied a change and its eldest son last holiday with us, so he tells us.0
