Applying for Mortgage

I have recently got married and changed my name on all my accounts but my credit file is still coming up in my maiden name.

The electoral roll and all my bank accounts are in my married name so unsure why its taking so long for the credit report to update. It just gives my married name as a connection/ other name.

Will this affect the likelihood of the mortgage getting approved? I'm holding out taking it to the credit checking stage as late as I can in the hope it will have caught up. Is there any other steps I can take to speed things up?

Thanks for any help in advance

  • You could contact the CRA's and ask them to update it. If your new accounts are reporting to them in your new name then they should have updated it but I know mine took almost a year for all accounts to be updated :(
  • This shouldn't cause you an issue in terms of passing credit checks etc with a lender.

On an AIP and full application there will be a field asking for previous surnames, so you would just record your married name and maiden name.

Make sure your ID is all up to date.
