dual sim smartphone

Options
I'm looking for a dual sim smartphone. I want to use 1 sim for all data and the other for just text and calls.

I can get hold for 20gb for a year data sim card for £30. I would rather just buy that and use that for all data for the year and then use a £5 a month giffgaff simcard for voice only (100mins). This would be much more cost effective for me than having a single sim.

Does such a phone exist? I know that several dual sim phones exist, but will they do what I want^

yes , a cheap one from china , or argos do a bush (athios?) one http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3978335.htm#pdpFullProductInformation

one sim is 3g the other just 2g , when you make a call it asks you which sim to use , so you set it to the data sim by default , but state which on calls

. This would be much more cost effective for me than having a single sim.

So thats £7.50 a month for 100 mins and 1.67gb of data a month with lots of faffing.

A quick Google gets this deal

    http://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/sim_only_deal/f9d7667c08e874efc031afd1c156ca643acb33bd?page=%2Fmobiles%2Fcompare%2Fsim_only_deals%2F&position=8

    250 mins 5000txts and 2gb all for £7.50 a month, 1 month contract.

More data and more minutes for the same price.

I'm sure others will be along to point out other better deals.

... then use a £5 a month giffgaff simcard for voice only (100mins).
100 mins cost no more than £3 on 3p/min PAYG without any bundles (Three, Delight Mobile).

    DUEL SIM MODE
but does the 3 network (as per link above) not req a 3g phone or a 3g sim holder?

if the OP decides to go single sim , then the phone is not needed

I have and use dual-sim phones as I travel for work often, and very happy with a dual-sim Moto G (first edition). You can switch data on or off for each SIM separately, and each time you go to make a call or text, you're prompted for which SIM you want to use (you can default it though). It can confuse some services like WhatsApp, but it's a great way to split services between suppliers.

ebay.... loads on there from about £35.

Talk mobile (uses voda network) basic tariff is 4p txt, 2p per meg and 10p per call up to 1 hour long, so may be worth a look :)

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

Hi op i would say get a named phone . I have 2 duel sim phones a nokia 630 and a moto g 2nd gen . Both work well on 3g sims and in truth only got the moto because i needed certain android features .gave the Nokia to my 21year old daughter who says it works well .The advantage with a named phone is any issues with build quality are well documented

the other reason is that I supply high end 4G routers to my clients for business use. A lot of them return the equipment after using them for a week or so (for events) and I have all this spare data left on the sims. So I want to easily be able to use these data. I have tonnes of mifi devices and never manage to get to use them as they are fidgity.

I also use my moto g 2nd gen with dual sims. EE sim for incoming calls (don't trust delight enough to port my extremely memorable number) and delight mobile for the odd outgoing call and data.

\you can get dual SIM versions of some of their more popular phones like the S4 mini, S5 and S5 mini. It depends on how much or little you want to spend.
