I know that there are other threads on this, and apologies for starting another. I am seeking specific advice on what to do next.
I opened a current account online with HSBC on 6 January. It is not the premier or advance one, just the one requiring £500 monthly coming in. I am planning to switch a Clydesdale account simply for the £120 incentive.
After I went through the online process on 6 January, I was informed that my application was successful and that I would hear from them in a couple of days. So far so good. I got an application number online, but not an account number.
The incentive t and c's suggest that I need to complete (not commence) the switching process within 30 days of account opening. I take it that my account opening date is not 6 January as I don't have an account number. Or is it? Can I start the switching process now, or do I have to wait for an account number? Also, how do you do the switching? The website seems to indicate that it can only be done in branch or by phone, not online. Has anyone got any experience of switching to HSBC and how did you do it? There is only one branch near me (I'm in Scotland( and it isn't easy to get to. I don't want to turn up without an appointment in case there is no one available to deal with me. I tried to phone the number given on the website to make a branch appointment but the menu didn't have that option.
I'm just anxious to get switching underway so that I don't fall foul of the 30 day deadline and lose out on the incentive.
Many thanks for any advice.

Same muddle here, Hattie, just one page letter about tax compliance and saying account is open and quoting a 10digit reference number.
HSBC letterhead and date, no address.0 -
