Not being one of the others I would re-enter the documents from the hardcopies you have of them. I would suggest copy them from the backups you have,oops my mistake - you don't have any. To draw an analogy, you could excuse yourself from (for instance) checking the tyre pressure, oil level, or brake fluid level on your car in the same way. But if you did that long enough, it would most likely come back to bite you.
Come on, you can't run your house or flat without learning how to operate the heating, the cooker, the taps.
Learning about files and folders is what you HAVE to do to work with computers. It's the basics. It's not complex stuff, and in order to salvage your data from your old machine, you're gonna have to face up to it, I'm afraid......0
