New York City Break!

Hello, looking for a little advice!
My partner and I have recently decided we'd like to go to New York over one of the May bank holidays. We can take a bit of holiday so planning on flying out Thursday evening and back on Monday evening (back to work Wednesday) but can be flexible - sadly a lack of holiday means we can't take more than 2 days off.
My questions are:
- Are we better booking flights now, or waiting to see if any late deals come up?
Currently around £350-400 for flights, at times which work for us.
- Is it better to book flights and hotels separately, or does a package normally work out cheaper?
- Any other moneysaving tips?
Thanks in advance

Those flight prices seem pretty good to me. I know BA and Virgin have a sale at the moment, so might be worth a look. They have some really good prices, and also BA holidays have some good deals for flights and hotel packages.
Fab time to go, by the way. May is perfect weatherwise.0 -

Price the flights up then price a package up and compare and contrast, with the exception of last my trip to NY, i have always booked packages through expedia, dont forget cashback sites like topcashback and expedia for a few quid back and you get nectar points too for your bookingLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
worth looking at "Big Apple Greeter" fora real New Yorkers tour tailor made for you and free.
I did it 3 years ago spent a half day was really good and free.
Oh ok then I think it cost a coffee.
Airport transfer by train, not taxi.
I am a bit of a country bumpkin and loved NewYork. Felt quite safe wandering about.
Staten Island Ferry for free trip and good views of NY City and Liberty0 -
Don't wait for those prices to improve.
Price up Dublin to NYC though. You might be surprised - especially business class.0
