Help please to stream movies from phone with Chromecast

I have movies from Showbox on my phone (sony experia E4) and I want to play them on my TV via Chromecast.

I'm getting the message NO MEDIA PLAYBACK AVAILABLE.

What am I doing wrong? Please can anyone advise me?

It's only certain apps that allow to to cast films from your phone to chromecast.

Does show box allow you to cast ?

Thanks DCFC and Anne Marie. Yes show box does allow you to cast.

DCFC, I followed instructions in your link and get only as far as hitting Watch now, then nothing else happens.

The phone displays my Chromecast number and says it's connected but doesn't offer any further steps to play the movies.

Test with a video you have already on your phone .

I remember trying this previously and never having any success. I now use Plex Media Server on my PC and use the Plex app on my phone to cast to the Chromecast the music/videos etc. on the PC.

Have you tried changing the Throw Settings and Screen Mirroring settings under Settings>Xperia Connectivity?

Install localcast or the allcast app from playstore, then when you find a movie in showbox, select external player and then select localcast or allcast from the list of apps.

swipe, I have installed allcast. Still nothing.

JJ Egan, it's a new phone so there are no videos to test with.

Davis Fx, how would I change those settings please?

Have you correctly set up the Chromecast dongle i.e connected it to your home WIFI network?

How Chromecast works:
Phone connects to dongle directly using Chromecast App
Using the app - The dongle is connected to the home WiFi network (it will ask you for password).
Dongle now connects to Home WiFi Network - it will remember settings so you need only do this once
Your phone should now reconnect with the Home WiFi network (check under Settings>WiFi) allowing it to stream from the internet
Hopefully then it should work
