Halifax total mortgage protection

I was having a discussion at work about bills and I mentioned that I pay mortgage insurance, others in the office stated that this must be a PPI but obviously the Halifax have named it something else.
When I took out my mortgage and the Halifax mentioned the TMP I thought I had to take this out otherwise they wouldn't give me the mortgage so I signed for it and monthly payments have been taken since.
I have a few questions:
1) Do I need the TMP?, if not
2) Can I claim a refund?
3) How do I do it??
Any advice would be gratefully accepted

It is not obviously PPI.
Halifax TMPP is a multi-segment plan that can be made up of any combination of life assurance, critical illness cover, MPPI or income protection.1) Do I need the TMP?, if not
1 - we know nothing about you. So, can't say
2 - we know nothing about what segments your TMPP has (it could just be life cover or any combination of the others)2) Can I claim a refund?
on what basis would your complaint be?3) How do I do it??
