I'll suggest The Vegetarian to my book group, as we need to make our next request list soon.
Nb. I wrote a response half an hour ago, but had a message 'this cannot be accept as the voucher has expired.' How odd!Member #14 of SKI-ers club

I finished this one this evening:
9/10. It took me ages to read, not because it wasn't beautifully written, it was! But some of the things described in the book are harrowing, and since it's essentially a tale of human interactions the sheer cruelty of the era was hard to get my head around when put in such descriptive terms. Andrea Levy is an amazing author!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I read it some time ago and loved it. It's not a long book, and very engaging. Although it's not quite up there with Animal Farm in terms of allegory, its not that far behind.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Thanks for that, Vfm. We do our list at the next meeting.
I found All the Light We Cannot See, by Anthony Doerr, in Oxfam yesterday.
I can't remember whether it was a recommendation from someone on holiday or in here.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Having looked at some of the reviews on amazon, it seems to be quite a strange, but intriguing book. It doesn't sound like a light read, but that is typical of Man Booker books, I think.
It would probably be a good one for a book group, as I've a feeling some will love it and some hate it, so it should get a good discussion going0 -
A man called Ove.
Just started it. Good so far.0 -

Is it me or is it a bit quiet on here, we must be all busy reading or living hectic lives. I am currently Reading the dandelion years by Erica James. I am having a mini break from crime thrillers. I'm enjoying it so far.£2 savers club 2025 #2= £480

I've read a lot of stuff for work recently.
Fiction-wise I'm stuck on this one:
I love the author, but I'm struggling with how horrible the narrator is to her own sister, even as an adult. I'm not sure I'm going to get very far with itValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I love Amy Tan, too. Not read any for a while, but I kept her books when I had my major clear-out.
I'm plodding through a boring thriller - oxymoron, I know. The Black Echo by Michael Connelly. It was passed on by a lovely woman from my tai chi class, so I will read it.
Book group on Go Set a Watchman last week. Our latest member, who hasn't been all summer, hadn't finished it - again! She's so half-hearted, as well as bloody miserable, I'd love to get rid of her. But how?Member #14 of SKI-ers club
