  • Finally finished 'The Bone Clocks'. I did quite enjoy it but as someone said earlier in the thread the 'showdown scene' and all the stuff about the anchorites and their arch enemies got a bit confusing.
Now to decide what to read next from the pile I have.
Books - the original virtual reality.

I, and all my book group, loved Room. So well written capturing a child's view of a very uncomfortable situation.

I've just finished A Spool of Blue Thread. Excellent stuff by Anne Tyler again. Initially, I thought she was writing about my family.

Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

  • cairndog-thank you for the comments about Room, I'm so glad I stuck with it in the end.

As I was reading the book I was wondering how it would fair in the film version,so thank you for passing on your friends' views.

Still haven't started another book as yet - must get on with it now half term is over.

Funny, I found that Room grabbed me within the first few pages once I got to grips with the child's reality. Although I loved the book, I found the second half far less interesting than the first.

I foun a book I have been wanting to get hold of for a while today - along with another 4 that will keep me out of trouble for a while :D

Hope is not a strategy :D...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!
  • I have just finished reading Always the Sun by Neil Cross. It had me totally hooked from the 1st page and I could hardly wait to get to the end of the book.

It is about Jamie who is 13 years old and is an only child. His Mother has recently died. He and his Dad have moved to his Dad's home town for a fresh start. One day Jamie comes home bearing the scars of every parent's nightmare. Something must be done.
  • Just finished Peter James "Billionaire". It's a re-issue of one of his very earliest books and is set in the world of Global Finance - if anyone's thinking of buying this, don't bother - life's too short!
It gets bogged down with financial matters (the price of gold/coffee selling short or long etc) and none of the characters were very likeable. I skipped many pages before finishing it, because I hate giving up on a book.
Borrowed from the library only because of the author.
    Normal people worry me.
