Mag dailies decisions ...

Options
Can anyone remember where it was decided to link the main mag dailies list direct to the competition sites, rather than the MSE posts?

Not wanting to cause WW3 about it or have another debate, but just wondered the reason behind why mag dailies works differently to other dailies :)

Presumably, for those who enter mag dailies from the thread, it saves clicking on the list only to end up at another thread that they then have to click on a link to get to the actual sites to enter.

This thread wasn't really about direct links to start with but they were clearly favored during the discussion

I don't enter any mag dailies or use the "Regular Competitions" section for entering anything but would want direct entry links if I did.

As mjm3346 says above, the idea to post direct links on the first page was to save time and effort for those working off the mag dailies thread; otherwise it would mean opening the thread, clicking through to the MSE post and then clicking through again to the magazine itself. Not a massive amount of time, but when you consider the amount of comps there are, it adds up.
I think it was agreed that the front page of the mag dailies thread would contain the direct links, but the MSE posts would also be added to the end of the thread? xx

I think the dailies should be left as they are - Katie has done a great job. As mjm3346 and Cagsd have said above - they save compers who use the thread time and clicks :)
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea

I wasn't proposing a change, I just wanted to understand why they were like that. I may not have been around at the time the decision was made.

I had no idea, having always comped from the back of the thread, that they were transferred like that. I guess I should not have assumed they were listed like the RCs, dailies and advents.

It's probably in the same thread where it was decided to put comps that end every week in one post and put them in the not-widely-used-or-ever-updated-so-a-waste-of-time weekly thread :rotfl:

For the mag dailies, I always thought they were better in one thread per mag as I, like lots of others, bookmark the home pages anyway!
    Thanks to all posters :A

It became an issue because there were some large prizes on the daily mags and some felt that they should be on the main board.

All that eventually led to the poll, and the compromise we have now.
