Hi can anyone help
My mums Sky+ box has broken and looks like it is beyond repair, a friend has given me their old Sky + HD box to use.
Does anyone know if it will work or do I need a new card for it or do I have to pay for the HD etc
Thank you

should "pair " with the new box
http://help.sky.com/articles/set-up-your-sky-box
Once you've connected your Sky+HD box to your broadband, to ensure you receive all of the channels that you've subscribed to, you'll now need to activate your channels.- Turn to channel 106 and you'll see an on screen message Your Sky viewing card needs to be paired to your Sky+HD box. To pair them now, press SELECT.
- Press select on your remote and you'll see an on screen message Requesting pairing....
- After a few seconds an on screen message Request was successful. Your channels will be available shortly will confirm a successful pairing. It may take a few moments for your channels to become available.
If you have any difficulty completing this step, you can also activate your channels online by signing in to Activate my channels with your Sky iD and following the instructions provided.
it works without an HD subscription although you can only see the free to view HD channelsEx forum ambassador

worse case if it won't pair then you ring sky and they do an override ( the box may still be registered to a closed account )Ex forum ambassador

Just a thought, if she is paying for Sky TV ring them and they should replace the broken box for free. They may also send an engineer, I use the term loosely, to install it.
Worth a free phone call.0 -

Worth a free phone call.
Might be able to negotiate a "free" replacement by threatening to leave, however, but that will start a new minimum term...0
