I usually get the same stuff from Heron and use it in stir-fry, or as a topping on pizza, but often you get full rashes to make a butty with. Never quite understand why thet call it cooking bacon. Don't you cook the standard rashes of bacon.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Bacon is another one of those "very personal taste" things for it to be "just right".
Smoked or unsmoked?
Back; Middle; Streaky?
Thick, medium or thin-cut?
Then, do you grill or fry?
Do you like crispy or still-soft?
There are a few types enjoyed within our family BUT we DO like smoked back bacon as a preference.
Those from both Lidl and Aldi are extremely good vfm in our experience, especially the Aldi :

In all honesty though, given that Aldi do (for example) 250g Essentials Back Bacon either smoked or unsmoked for 99p per pack how cheap do you want your bacon to be? :cool:0 -
I buy value cooking bacon. However, I don't buy it instead of expensive John Lewis/Waitrose organic rain forest mahogany & teak dry cured bacon, as I simply cannot afford to do so. IMHO. the value stuff is just as good as any other slightly more expensive bacon that I could also afford. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

I buy the lidl bacon for cooking with, great in pies, puddings and adding flavour to stews etc
However if we are having bacon as a treat, it's from the butchers, dry cured, costs a fortune but tastes how bacon used to taste Delish0 -

Agree.
Smartprice/Value products are often the same shop product that is 30/40/50P more.0 -
after watching a tv show a while back about bacon/pigs, I will NEVER buy Danish bacon again. Truly horrifying0

To my eternal shame I can't say I have ever given a seconds thought to animal welfare, for us its price, price and erm price. But the savings all go to paying the butler and our daily who does.
No problem with that we all make our own choices, but I also find the cheaper stuff not to taste as nice and be full of that water/fat/white stuff lol. But if you are going cheap may as well go as cheap as possible.
