I have a Yoga 2 11 notebook, less than a year old. The sound is very quiet and it is hard to hear unless you are close to, even with the sound turned up to max. Looking around the web it seems it is not an uncommon problem. I posted a query on their user forum but there are not many users on it and I did not get a response.
It has a Conexant sound card and latest win 8.1 It was advertised as supplied with Dolby Home Theatre which I think was probably a work around for the sound so I activated Dolby Digital app to see if that helped and it did not. I am wondering it is a win 8.1 related issue?
I have noticed on the mixer bar that there is a short horizontal line against each of the bars, to the right, about half way up, and while the bars show green levels rising and falling, the green indicator never rises above the half way bar. Is this relevant?.

Try different drivers. I noticed my audio volumed used to vary between the different driver releases.
Green bar doesnt reach the top then the application playing the sound may have its own volume control or the source of the sound.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
