just one thing to add, when people say it needs skimming half the time it is a complete wreck that needs completely re doing. If your wall has lumps falling off, loads of holes, rough and uneven surfaces it does not just need skimming. The plasterer we use for big jobs charges £100 per half day, works really hard and does a fantastic job. Thats in the North West, I dread to think darn sarf.
