Oven door blown off

Yesterday my oven door blew off and shattered glass all over my kitchen floor.
Googled the problem and found four other occurrences with the same model.
Phoned the shop where i bought it and they said there is nothing they can do as it is out of guarantee by four months. Phoned the manufactures they want me to pay for an engineer to come out and look at it.

As its out of manufacturers warranty your recourse now is with the retailer.

As its over 6 months old, the onus is on you to prove the oven was inherently faulty when you purchased it. To do this you will need to get an independent report carried out stating the the oven has failed due to an inherent fault.

There will be a charge for the report, however if it goes in your favour then the retailer has to refund this as well as remedy the fault.,

Pay for their engineer or pay for your own?

Either way, four other occurances does not make a case. These four people may have done the same 'wrong' thing in treating the oven. They will have sold thousands of ovens, four having the same issue doesn't mean there is a problem in how it's made. That's what you have to prove.

As above, pay for the manufacturer's engineer to come out and diagnose the fault only. If they suggest/confirm that it's a manufacturing fault then you can take this back to the retailer for a suitable remedy, and a refund of the engineer's visit. If you don't want to use the manufacturer then get an independent to come out instead.
