Freeview box - £10 @ Tesco!

Tesco currently have a Techwood freeview box for £10.00 .

Looks pretty good - 8-day EPG etc. Haven't seen them this cheap before :D
___________________________________________________________
Official Insert From Martin with additional info

This is by far the cheapest new Freeview box we've seen; around half the cost of any previous ones meaning 40 extra TV channels & lots of radio channels without ever paying another penny.

This Techwood box previously retailed at £30, and includes everything you need to make your analogue telly work after the digital switchover. Full product specs (thanks to MoneySaver 'digitaltoast' for this link)

Where's it available?
  • Instore: The £10 box should be available at all Tesco Extras (the really, really big ones), and at a smaller number of regular Tescos.

If you find one in a regular Tesco, please report which one it was in the discussion below so other MoneySavers can benefit.
  • Online: The box was available online briefly on Wed, but unfortunately it's now sold out and isn't expected to be re-stocked.
What is Freeview?

It's a terrestrial digital box - in other words you simply plug it into your normal TV aeriel and you can get a lot more channels - over 40 more and you never need pay another penny (plus a whole host of digital radio stations too).

You should always check you're in an area with a strong enough signal (at http://www.freeview.co.uk/home) though actually this isn't always reliable and you're best to ask neighbours if their Freeview works or borrow a box from someone.

    It's probably in-store only.

Was advertised in newspapers this morning and they definately have them in Tesco Extra, Alloa :)
  • Same in Durham, massive yellow sign outside the store advertising it at £10. I was amazed by the price as well!

Went with a mate to Huntingdon store at lunchtime. There was only 1 left on the shelf. Looks like there has been limited stocks per store. If you want one get in fast would be my advice. The advertising says while stocks last !

Just popped into Carlisle branch for something else and came out with two of these :D

They were flying off the shelf. They were £30 I think until today, but they did only appear at the weekend.

I assume they had only just put them out, as the pile was disappearing rapidly. Everyone who passed that section seemed to be grabbing one.

Just bought one in the Aldershot branch.

Probably a couple of dozen left, but more space on the shelf than boxes. At this price you'll also need to get a SCART lead, only £1.91 in store.

comes with a standard aerial lead in the box

finds all the channels on my better signal aerial socket , only half on the bad reception one (although a sagem box finds all on the same socket) so suspect it's not the most sensitive box on the market

got 2 in the gillingham Kent Store , they still had a shelf full of about 30-40 at 1pm
