Can anyone help with notepad please?

Hi,

I've just been to copy some recipes etc, swept the text as normal, brought up notepad ... and there's nothing. As in every option like 'undo', 'cut', 'copy' etc is greyed out.

Has this happened to anyone before? And is there a way to overcome it? Apart from learning Word which I've never quite gotten my head around

Try copying something else from somewhere else and see if that transfers to notepad ok. (ie open up notepad and name it 'test'. wrote something in there... sweep it ... right clip and 'copy') then open another notepad and see if you can paste into it.
If you can then it was the copying of the receipe that didn't work... not the pasting to notepad.

If your original copying of the receipe didn't work then there was nothing on your clipboard so your paste etc options would be greyed out in the notepad you intended to paste into.

I don't usually name it until I've finished (?) but just tried it your way (I think) and all that appeared was 'select all'

Sorry, forgot to mention that when I opened up another notepad, that was all greyed out. Not even the 'select all' appeared?

Just tried pasting an add into Google, and that went a bit like notepad - wouldn't let me copy and paste it straight in?

I'll give the pc a boot, I mean reboot later, and let you know how I get on, or not.

If you can think of anything else I might be doing wrong, can you let me know please? No rush obviously

Whatever document you are getting with 'select all' select it (that has the same effect as sweeping it) then go to edit and see if you can 'copy'. If you can, then open another document and see if you can 'paste'

In wordpad the 'copy' or 'cut' option won't usually come up until you have selected a portion of text by 'sweeping' of pressing 'select all' and the 'paste' option won't come up until you have 'copied' or 'cut' something i.e. until you have something on your clipboard

Is there any pictures is what your trying to paste? i tried screen shotting into note pad and didnt have the option like yourself then it clicked when i opened a word doc and pasted it in there, try pasting it into paint and see if that works ok.

gk172? Thanks for the reply, but it was only plain text I was copying. I'll try and learn how Word works just in case notepad ever goes wrong again.
