Pre-populated personal details when applying for a product through OLB/MLB

When applying for a product though online/mobile banking a while back, my personal details used to be populated. This is not the case now.

Why aren't they pre-populated?

When applying for a product in branch, the staff will just apply for the product, while you sit there and wait for it to be opened. Obviously, your personal details on their system is pre-populated when applying for a product.

Which bank and account are you talking about? What did the bank say when you asked them?

Ask the bank, but the only answer you can expect is "because the computer says so".

I am sure what you say is not the case for all banks and it is usually pre-populated. However, it wasn't for my most recent Santander appliction.

It's quite possibly because they want to take up to date information from you rather than relying on what you might have told them a few years before. They have a duty to know their customers, and that includes keeping such information up to date. No better way to do that than get you to supply it all over again!

There's really no easy way of saying. It may not even be the bank's fault. Did you perhaps delete your cookies or change privacy settings, for example?
