Argos TV Refund Three Years Later

This is something of an usual posting but the situation is I purchased a Plasma TV online from Argos for £500 at the end of 2012. They were unable to deliver the television (something to do with delivery in my area) at the time but nonetheless took the money and contacted me to say that I could wait and they could deliver when possible. A few months later I got a voicemail stating that they wouldn't be able to provide the TV. The thing is I was never issued a refund. Yes I should of got on to them to force the issue but I had a lot of issues in my life at that time and it got put on the back burner.
Now I want to contact them to get the refund but it has been so long I'm concerned they won't have a record of it any more. All I have is the original order confirmation email and bank statements showing the money going out (and obviously all the further statements show it was never refunded). Nothing to show the order was never delivered/cancelled. I would be very grateful if anyone can give me advice on the situation and how best to approach getting a refund. Thanks.

If you can prove that the TV was never delivered AND prove that you paid and were not issued a refund then you're good to go. If you don't have anything to back up you claims then you haven't really got much going for you.0

I don't see how I can prove it wasn't delivered but equally they can't prove that it was (because it wasn't). I can certainly prove it was paid for and not refunded.0

You need to contact them and see what they say. No one can help until we know Argos' stance on the matter.0

You can't prove a negative and the law wouldn't expect you to.
But as above, you really need to contact argos first and see what their stance is. Argos will still have some transaction details (required by law to keep certain details - in case they are audited for example) but they may not have kept absolutely everything.
ETA: Might be worth wording it to them in such a way as "I have recently reconciled my bank statements and it has come to my attention that I never received a refund from you for an order that was cancelled in april 2013 (for example). If you process this refund within 14 days, I will consider it repaid in full and waive my right to the interest."You keep using that word. It shouldn't be a problem. I bought a conservatory from them for £4,999 ten years ago and they've only just delivered it. The only problem is I now live in a caravan.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”
