New Year, New Me

I joined here yesterday and I've decided to jump in with both feet by starting my diary.

Our IVA meeting is on Monday. I hope it all goes OK - I just want to start paying it now, we've been trying to get the IVA since July. That will be such a big relief once its in place.

We have no savings, that's what I'm working on this year, building up a pot of money. But, our rent goes up by £50 in March & my maternity pay ends in February so I need to start thinking of applying for jobs.

I just hope things get better from here on out! X

So, I guess some more information could be needed. Together we have debts of 11575 in our IVA, plus we owe family/friends a total of 3000.

    Those figures are so scary!!

I can't wait to see them fall!

Today (after reaserching on here) I decided to start a 34 day free trail with YNAB. Still getting my head around it all, but hoping it'll help me budget, and come up with a buffer!

    DD (again),

A year ago I was 4 months pregnant, had 3 pay day loans, and rent arrears of 2 months. Then we were served notice to move out in 8 weeks time. Then we took out loans to cover loans, it got worse and worse.

My lightbulb moment happened after our baby was born, and we had bailifs turning up. That's when I called the IVA people.

It was horrific, but I'm starting this near year so much happier. I can't wait for the IVA to be granted, that'll be such a huge relief.

I never want to be in such a dark place again. And we never will be. We can't get any more credit and I don't want more credit. Not now, not ever. Maybe a mortgage but thats years away, if ever.

I feel ruled by money. By having it or not having it. That's why I've started by finance file, and YNAB!

    DD,

My head feels like its gonna explode. I'm trying to find a savings account for us and its so confusing! The lovely people on here have told me a regular savings account will be best, just hard to decide which one!!

    Hopefully it'll be clearer soon

So you have a 1 year old baby to cope with as well as all this. You have my respect. That can't be easy.

Ahh thank you! He's such a good boy - he's our motivation for getting it sorted now! He's almost 7 months, both me and my partner are in our early 20s so its the 'perfect' time to get it all sorted - although perfect to me would be no debt at all but ho hum can't change our past only our future!

On another note I've just discovered money dashboard which looks good!

  • DD,

I can't sleep. Tomorrow is D day, our creditors meeting where we'll know of our iva has been accepted. Oh I hope it does eally do.

I know we'll still be in that debt but it won't feel that bad having one payment go out and having over 9000 wiped off.

I have to wait until tomorrow afternoon for the phone call!

As we've had an expensive month with Christmas ect we haven't got much left so I did a sainsburys order - 60 with 15 off of cost 50.02 in total. So I'll only need to get veg and fruit and milk each week which won't be too much extra as I've done meal plans until 1st Feb and we will stick to them!!

    DD,

Today was D day and ...... Nothing!! Its been postponed until next Wednesday, as my creditors voted yes, but my partners didn't vote they go with the flow, but there is one creditor who can vote next Wednesday. Hopefully its smooth sailing. I feel better knowing there is more of a chance of it going through than not. So, bucks fizz tonight!

Argh more sleepless nights for me though :-(

    DD,

So, I've sorted a few things!

I've sorted out 3 items for bay of E, and 2 for tree of gum. No interest yet but you never know!

Also signed up to survey sites thanks to MSE, and bounts.

That's all I've done, but it feels positive.

I've had to use savings to buy food this month, but have done meal plan for month, and will only top up with milk/bread/cream. Feeling down about using savings but hey ho. We got it from Iceland and Lidl which was good.

Also trying to get more than £50 from Curry's compensation. Hope I do, although £50 is a lot of money!

Also trailing nYNAB and money lover and money dashboard to see which I like the most. I'm unsure right now if I even need something like that!

I kinda think I do, as I do budget but so easily throw money away when out and about.

    X
