0% card needed but moving house...

in Credit cards
Hi all,
I have just moved and need money for furniture etc. The best way for me - with a really good credit score and a decent salary - is via a 0% credit card. That way I can spend the next two years or so paying back what I spend in the next few weeks to get the place up to scratch.
However, the Post Office have requested more documentation from me - including confirmation of address.
I only have a few more days left at the property before I move and I've been in for 8 years. The letter with further details of what stuff they need is still yet to arrive.
However, if I apply using my new address I presume I will get rejected? I can get on the electoral roll there etc - and change the address with the credit agencies - but I think that takes a few months - and need to buy stuff straight away as I'm going from a furnished to an unfurnished place. The whole process has taken weeks because of the Christmas break.
Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to proceed? I've always been very careful and that's why my credit rating is good. So, I don't want to harm it. But I don't want to sleep on an airbed for months.

It's strange why they have requested confirmation of your address if you've lived there for 8 years. That sort of thing normally happens if you've not long moved or do you don't have established credit at the property but from what you say you've built up a good credit file.
Do you have anything registered to other properties/not updated addresses years ago due to online accounts?
You could do a mail redirect and that way any post goes to your new property. As you applied when you were still at that property, the application still stands however if you have no access to the property/no mail redirect they will need confirmation of your new address if you update it which will take a while as you'll need bills/letters to come through first.
New applications at your new property do not 100% mean you will be declined as a lender will see your history at your old address however they will likely ask for proof of address which will lead you to the problem of waiting for a bill/letter to come through.
Why don't you phone them and ask for their requirements and an address to send the documents so that the ball is rolling and you don't need to wait for their letter?#27 £2016 in 2016 = £763.61
#42 £2 Savers Club = £160
*Savers Club not included in overall 2016 savings until the tin is opened and my estimates have been confirmed later in the year.0 -
I'd steer clear of Post Office and AA credit cards for now as they operate under BOI. Some people on this forum will agree that this may only be the beginning of your documentation nightmares!! Next you'll need to get your documents certified by selected professionals....etc....etc...at your own cost.
Have a read on a few threads on this forum regarding PO and AA credit card application and you'll understand.0 -
Ring them up and tell them you are moving, your credit card, pin and other important letters will be sent to the wrong address and could possibly fall into the hands of someone willing to do credit card fraud.0

If your credit history is good. You are unlikely to be rejected for credit just because you have moved house. Lots of people make successful credit applications when they move into a new address
When you apply for credit, you usually have to also give previous addresses if you have lived at your current address for less than three years.0 -
I don't see the problem. You fill out the application, fill out your address details and the length of residence and your previous address and the length of residence there.
When you move, your previous address becomes a linked address in your credit history anyway. If you haven't yet moved, use your currecnt address and then pass them your new address when you move.
If you get credit, move and don't let the lender know it's fraud.0
