Luton Airport Parkway Parking

From various threads it seems that Luton Airport Parkway Station is the cheapest parking when flying from luton. I'm anxious that it can't be booked and that I'd be arriving at about 17:00 on a friday, is it a bit risky - there might be no spaces left?

Also, I'm not familiar with the area, there seems to be several carparks within that vicinity - is the car park actually on Parkway Road 9the bottom one on this map?)

Thanks (I'm going on my hols :j )

My daughter took a risk and turned up last Wednesday morning and got in with no problem. Looking at the map it is directly under the 'red square' in the middle. Just head to the station and its right next door, you can't miss it.

Thanks jaytar - that's really helpful, I hate not knowing where I'm going - especially car parks as once you drive up to them you often have no option but to drive in (I have made that costly mistake a few times!)

I personally found Airparks tobe dirt cheap and a extrordinarily superb service (excuse spelling) They were so efficient it was unreal and it worked out at about £3.50 per day.
    could not reccommend them enough
:D The glass is always half full, no exceptions !!:D

Most car parks allow you a grace period of about 10 minutes to go “straight” out again. Just put your ticket in the exit barrier and it should let you out without requiring payment. Of course if it's a put money in slot to open the barrier you are stuffed. But then there are not too many of those about. Most are take a ticket, pay for how long you've been and put ticket in exit barrier machine. A pay and display it won't matter of course, as you won't pay if you don't stay.

Not many people seem to be aware that there is a grace period. I think it is in case there are no parking spaces. This could be due to faulty counters in the car park software allowing in more cars than there are spaces, or plain inconsiderate/poor parking by others (across two bays!!). They cannot charge you if you cannot park.

    Yep, I second that.
  • Thanks to this thread I've just saved myself quite a few pound by parking at the Luton parkway station ... £20.70 for a whole week (if you pay on arrival) and a free transfer shuttle bus. brill.

Otherwise you could use free parking in a nearby town.

A lot of people park in one of the streets near Harpenden station - low crime area with plenty of on street parking. It's only 5 mins to Luton Airport Parkway from there, and a 10 minute hop on the free shuttle to the airport
