PPI reclaim from Barclays.

Hi
I have read so many articles on the PPI situation I just wondered if someone out there had any idea on whether or not I had a valid cause for complaint against Barclays.I hold two accounts, one is for personal bankin and the other for Business. These have been held for around 20 years and 15 years respectively.I am fairly sure I have been paying PPI on the personal account and just wondered if I had grounds for a claim and the best easiest way of going about it. I have been self employed for over 20 years.
Realise that this is probably all in Martins information on this site but some of it is a bit confusing...to me.Many thanks in advance.

You get your statements every month. I would have thought you would sure you had it or not. Not fairly sure (suggesting you are not sure).

1 - you dont appear to know if you have PPI
2 - you havent told us what you think your reasons for complaint are
I have been self employed for over 20 years.

Whilst a significant number of PPI plans do not cover the self employed, the majority do. Does your PPI cover the self employed?

  • Hi
Thanks for your reply.I do have PPI as its on my statements and of course I would have known.I was never sure what it was and I am sure it was never explained to me what it was for and that would be my reason for complaint. I will find out if it covers self employed. Many thanks.
  • Hi
I also have never seen a policy so cant say whether it was suitable.Should I ring Barclays and ask them if it covers self employed?
    Many thanks.
  • I would say definitely yes, ring them! If it doesn't cover self-employed, they mis-sold it to you!
Claiming is easy. Get the Ombudsman template questionnaire off this site, fill it in (you have the account details, so it's simple), post it off and sit back and wait for up to 6 weeks.
I incurred the debt, I repaid the debt - all of it!:o DMP started with CCCS 20/07/2007 Was £32,735. Paid off all my creditors (June 2013) 7 yrs ahead of original DFD.
    PPI claims won against Barclays x 2/ Egg x 1/ LV x . PPI claims rejected and then upheld Barclays/Egg x 2

It's pertinent to note that the Bank will have eight weeks (not six) to respond to any complaint that the OP might make.
