Read the post again - I never said i can't afford the repair - just that the cost of repair (and a few other bills recently) have made me question whether sticking with this car would be throwing good money after bad. I'm certain any of the car brands you list would have hefty bills from a few years of 20k miles each year. I don't have the time, patience or inclination to learn how to undergo serious car part replacements/repairs.BeenThroughItAll wrote: »I NEED a reliable car. I WANT a nice car. I don't spend 10 grand on my credit card to buy one though, I spend two grand from my savings, look after it myself, and change it when I get bored (6-12 months on average). I've had BMWs, Audis, VWs, Volvos, Skodas, Subarus, Jeeps, Saabs, and a variety of others.
Good for you - sounds like a good hobby for you.BeenThroughItAll wrote: »Contrasted with your situation, I can afford to buy brand new cars and pay to have them repaired - I choose not to though, because I'd rather be able to change my car often and suffer virtually no depreciation, and because I'd rather spend my money on paying off my mortgage more quickly.
Good for you. Doesn't add much to the thread though.0 -

None of my cars have incurred bills (even if I were paying to have them fixed) in the hundreds of pounds, and their use equates to an average of 36K miles pa. ETA: your previous threads about budgeting, and your inability to pay more than £65 a month off your credit card balance, suggest that affordability, whilst you may not consider it a concern, certainly should be.

It is, thank you.

Presumably, your facile comments about mortgages and holidays did, though? Or is this 'my thread, my rules' toy throwing?
