Cheap travel to Edinburgh

Hi there,

I'm looking to travel to Edinburgh soon, well Perth to be precise! I have many options but need to know the most cost effective!

1 ) I could drive (I live in Bath so a 7 hour drive)

2 ) I could fly - both me and my wife, preferably sub £100

3 ) I could train it - again sub £100

Any bright ideas? I know there is the megabus option but I would get there and have to turn around and come back!

Any thoughts would be most appreciated though!

Thanks,

Robin

Well the cheapest rail ticket from Bath to Perth is £25 single so that's going to be £100 total for the two of you.
To get this fare you have to book well in advance and commit to specific trains.

Easyjet fly from Bristol to Edinburgh - fares in the next few weeks range from £21.99 to £74.99 each way. Whether that's the total range I don't know.

    which dates is it for?
www.skyscanner.net has 2 returns bristol- edinburgh for about £90 then 2 x return with megabus starts at £4.50. dont think you will find it much cheaper but there is a space for a code for megabus and you could try booking the flight through someone like travelrepublic which also has a discount code (7.5%)

Remember you still have to get to Perth which is almost an hours drive from Edinburgh

you might find it easier to get to Glasgow and take train to perth from there. more options on that line. or bus it from Glasgow with mega bus.

edit just checked Skyscanner. flights start around £80 for 2 to glasgow with easyjet.
