Cleaning glass induction hob

My glass induction hobs had some burnt grease that I tried to clean using Hob Brite. Unfortunately it didn,t remove the burnt grease but sealed it under a protection layer that this sort of cleaners leave behind. Now any other cleaner can't get through that protection layer any more.
Does anyone know how to remove such a protection layer that Hob Brite creates?
Thanks a lot!

  • It's a real pain getting glass hobs clean. I do it in 3 stages:

    1) Hot soapy water and a nylon scrubbing pad to get the burnt bits off
    2) Hob Brite to get the really stubborn bits - just use this again if it didn't get everything the first time. It doesn't really leave much of a protective layer behind in reality.
    3) Class cleaner to get rid of any smudges left by the Hob Brite

It comes up really shiny after all that.

    Hi

You may need a ceramic hob scraper, it's really just a razor blade in a special holder but it will get through to the burnt on debris and scrap it off.

  • CK is correct - we've had an induction hob for about 7 years now, bought a hob scraper at our local Euronics shop and use it occasionally for exactly what you describe - other than that wife uses hobbrite or similar (barkeepers friend liquid is good).

I also use a hob scraper as CK says.

We just use hot soapy water and then a micro-fibre cloth, seems to work ok.

I sometimes use a really fine wire wool - not a kitchen scourer, but 00000 grade.
  • Hi,

you don't need a special hob scraper, any window scraper will do,

in fact if you have a Stanley knife type blade just use that.
