Volkswagen UK Class Action

Sorry if I have posted this in wrong area of forum but it seemed the most appropriate board.
Does anyone know if there is a UK class action suit being taken against Volkswagen for the emissions scandal? I have a Skoda diesel and have already been written to by the manufacturer to say my vehicle is affected.
I know this is primarily an emissions issue mainly related to diesel engines, but from new I have been very disappointed by fuel consumption figures which are not as advertised one of the reasons I went for a Skoda (Volkswagen).
The vehicle is three years old this March and I was going to trade it in for a newer model but am now wondering what leverage if any I might have to get a better discount on a new vehicle when the resale value of my existing car has dropped by this revelation?
Any tips on being involved in a Class Action Suit and what I should avoid would be welcomed.

The big question (as/when it gets to court) will be what you've lost as a result of it.
Not a lot, is probably going to be the answer, so in all honesty, is it worth it?
If it annoyed you that much, why not pick a different brand of car?💙💛 💔0 -

The advertised consumption figures are for comparative purposes - hardly anyone will get the mileage shown by any manufacturer, as they don't take into account real life driving situations.Fozzie_Bear wrote: »The vehicle is three years old this March and I was going to trade it in for a newer model but am now wondering what leverage if any I might have to get a better discount on a new vehicle when the resale value of my existing car has dropped by this revelation?
How much has the resale value fallen by?Fozzie_Bear wrote: »Any tips on being involved in a Class Action Suit and what I should avoid would be welcomed.

You'll be better off posting on the motoring or consumer rights board - this is the payment protection insurance board.0 -

We've discussed this a great deal at my firm and it is one of a number of flaws with the class action against VW. Firstly, where is the consumer's cause of action against VW unless it purchased the car directly from VW? I think the more lucrative class action is on behalf of VW franchises and third-party dealerships whose business has been damaged on account of VW's actions and its fraudulent misrepresentations.0
