Called for esa review 3 years early

My husband had a medical in Feb 2013 and got esa contibution based and was told it was advised not to call him back for 5 years but he's received a form now to fill in.
I don't know what they expect to be improved, he can't grow his kidney or leg back, or cure his neuropathy or blindness.
If anything he's got worse as he's had a psychotic breakdown since and had to be sectioned for a bit. He's still on medication for it but not had a specific diagnosis so I don't know how to put it on the form

The person on the phone told me when I phoned up when he was 1st awarded, it could be my mistake though as I wear hearing aids but I thought they said 5 years. It must have been 3 years then. Thank you

Just get the form completed to the best of your ability and return it. From what you say about your husband's condition I can't imaging there will be any change to the award, as long as the form is returned.

I've filled it in as before but added that he's been diagnosed with depression and attempted to take his own life after trying to strangle me and had to be sectioned, I've given them the doctors details in case they want more of a diagnosis. The problem is while on the medication he's back to normal (you wouldn't think anything was wrong) but if I didn't remind him to take them I don't know what would happen.

He tried to straggle you, How does that mean who tried taking his own life?

He attempted suicide AFTER trying to strangle the OP.
  • part of his hallucinations were accusing me signalling to other men and cheating (we're together 24/7) so then he accused me of drugging him & our daughter to sneak out. I woke with his hands around my throat, fought him off and he then slit his throat.

Oh jeez, Sounds like a horrible illness.

Hope you get the ESA sorted without any impact on health.

    Good luck...
  • Thank you, we're hoping his breakdown was only due to him not being given anti depressants for over a year, our gp diagnosed depression but said she couldn't prescribe anything due to the transplant but when he was sectioned he was put on them and an anti psychotic drug which brought him back to normal, they are monitoring him closely as his mum had paranoid schizophrenia but we've been together 20 years so I think if it was that he would have shown signs before then.

  • Sent forms on 4th January and heard from them today and just on the form and a supporting letter from his nurse he has been given ESA support group until January 2019, so no medical needed.
