Thanks to all who have responsed. I completely forgot about CCs. I can fit the £3,250 on two of my CCs and as someone said you have 50-odd days interest free period. So if I can sell privately within this time then great! If not the interest would be more than covered by a sale privately.
I'll check out WWAC though, not heard of them before now. My partner's colleague's car has just broken so shame the timing isn't right, otherwise I could've sold it to him! :P
What's this thread about a court case?
Edit: I found a few threads, one stopped short and the OP didn't continue to explain whether they went to court, another they settled out of court for £350 damages even though they likely weren't liable anyway!0 -
You're assuming you need to insurance policies if you sell privately. Give your insurers a ring and explain the situation, and they may agree to keep your old car insured for free/very little for a couple of weeks while it is sold.
I was in a similar position and got temporary insurance on my old car through my insurers (Churchill) for £66 for 30 days and they refunded me £60 when I sold the car after 2 days.0
