Hi guys booker our holiday for Playa Blanca, Lanzarote for June for 10 nights, we wanted self catering/breakfast as we wan to go for meals out etc but we have noticed the price was only an extra £90 for all inclusive so we thought we might as well do that and that way we get out breakfasts/cold drinks at the hotel and if we run out of money we then don't have to worry, was looking for good restuarants that people may have gone to? also good walks, excursions etc, we have 10 days to fill and love walking/sightseeing etc, noticed on the website it says there is a south and west tour of the island, are both of these worth it etc? is the volcano walking distance from Playa Blanca? also herd about Papaygyo beach? is there maybe quad bike hire to get around the island etc?
thanks guys

http://www.lastminute-transfer.com/lastminute_trip.asp are good for excursions.
If by volcano you mean Timanfaya National Park, then no, it certainly isn't walkable. There is an extinct volcano, Montana Roja in Playa Blanca which you can walk up though.
You can hire a quad (standard insurance is unlikely to cover you though so check) and you can also do quad bike 'excursions'.

The bus service is pretty good these days, making places more accessible cheaply.

If you really want to see the island car hire is the best way IMO. There are so many lovely villages etc that you'd only briefly pass through if you were lucky if you take excursions, and if on a quad you'd be so dirty you would probably not want to stop off for lunch lol. Some are accessible by bus but obviously you're then tied to the bus timetables. Haria, Yaiza, Teguise (not Costa Teguise) on any day except Sunday which is market day, Arrieta, El Golfo, La Santa, the cliffs at Famara, a trip through the vineyard region, La Geria.
Cesar Manrique Fundacion at Tahiche and his last house at Haria are must sees for us. LagOmar, the house which used to belong to Omar Shariff is amazing. Timanfaya National Park and the tour of the volcanoes also should not be missed. Jameous del Agua, the only place where there are blind albino crabs.
It's a nice walk down the promenade in PB. More or less flat and it extends from the Sandos Papagayo hotel at one end to the lighthouse at the other. It's about 10km from end to end.
Spoiled for choice for restaurants, but food is subjective so recommendations are difficult. Personally I love Casale Franco. A really good Italian, run by an Italian family. Franco is an artisan baker and anything that comes out of his woodburning oven is fantastic. We've never had a bad meal in there. Varadero is another favourite.
So many others though, but it depends on what type of food you want.0 -
Wow thanks there is a lot of excursions to do
normally we go with Thomson or Thomas Cook so when we get there we book with a rep any excursions, with booking with jet2 unsure if they have excursions when we get to hotel, with the last minute is it quite easy, as in if we book and excursion and print off is it easy to find your pick up area etc, it doesn't say some random bus stop or hotel?
And glas you gave me an Italian restaurant as love Italian
Again thanks for all this info

I don't know how the pickups work to be honest as we always have a car. Last Minute are highly rated on Trip Advisor for both airport transfers and excursions by the regular Lanzarote visitors, so their pickups must be ok. Have a look on there. Tour operators excursions are always overpriced

I went to Playa Blanca four times last year and now use Travel Republic for transfers which are much cheaper. They were reliable, but you do have to share sometimes. There is a bus from airport which I believe is hourly - and even cheaper. The local town bus, which takes a circular route from Papagayo to the lighthouse at other end, has same fare wherever or how far you travel - €1,40. The lighthouse is near Montana Roja, and there is a defined walk up to the summit - with a marvellous view. If you prefer walking on level ground there is plenty to see along the 10km promenade: marina, places to eat, beaches, shops and the port from where you can take to ferry to Fuerteventura.
There are many places to eat, both at marina and on the promenade. Along Avenida Papagayo (where Lastminute is situated) there are many cafes and resaurants in close proximity, my favourite being Cervantes where the steak is delicious (cooked in the open if you go in the evening). All the restaurants along there do inclusive three course lunch for approx €8.50. Big choice - Italian, Chinese as well as Spanish. The marina has many restaurants, with Lanis being one of the most popular. Free wifi in all the eateries - but it's very hit and miss as to whether you get decent connection.“Rain drops are not the ones who bring the clouds.”0 -
Hi Guys
Well decided to book the Grand tour which is a mixture of north and south, this includes the Timanfaya National Park, unsur eif this excursion does the main Volcano? we were going to also do the Express Volcano excursion too.
Also Island of La Graciosa looks good to do?
thanks0 -

May I ask which hotel you are staying in as we are thinking of going at end of April looking at self catering but if you can get all inc for only about £90 more its worth doing.0

Hi we are staying at hl Rio playa Blanca in playa Blanca so looking at things to do there, we are there for 10 nights so have time in our hands and love walking, sightseeing, beach walks, we are all inclusive but wanted a couple of evening meals out.0

I lived in PB for 2 Years,
You've defiantly picked one of the best tours (Grand Tour) as it covers pretty much the whole islands attractions - with the exceptions of the shows.
The Papagayo Beaches are really nice if you want a lazy day by the sea!
Catlanza was always one of my fave's - Its a catamaran which sails from Puerto Calero (Millionaires Marina) down to the Papagayo Beaches0
