I accidentallyhave 2 halifax bank accounts but under different names.

I didn't know how to word the subject so apologies if this seems confusing.

Basically 5 years ago, I got a credit card with halifax as well as opening a bank account. The thing is, the title on my credit card has mrs rather than the miss that I am so obviously there was a mistake.

On top of this, when I opened a bank account, 2 accounts were opened. One with Miss and another with Mrs, I have no idea how this happened.

Why didn't I sort this out at the time? I suffer from anxiety and a panic disorder which was very severe and over the years have just left it alone.

I am now in a position where I can sort things out and was wondering if this has an affect on my credit rating. Also this may not be the place but could I get in trouble for having cards with the wrong title etc?

Phone the bank and get it changed or if need be close the account with the wrong title and open 1 elsewhere using the right title (might be easier to do)

Don't worry about your credit rating as lenders don't see it.

The bank would likely require proof in order to amend the title of the accounts from Mrs to Miss - the proof would probably have to be from the relevant time. If you cannot show the necessary proof then it may be worth closing the incorrect accounts to limit any future confusion. Ask the bank what evidence they need but it may be a driving licence and/or household bill from the time (5 years ago).

It is possible that some of these bank account details may be missing from your credit file if they don't match your correct ID but you would need to check to find out (you could check all 3 files - Experian, Equifax, Call Credit). If the accounts are all up to date then it is unlikely that these issues would be having a negative effect on your credit file. I hope that helps,
