Hi,

I would like to register a website name and was wondering where would be the best place? It would be for blogging.

Thank you

What you use it for doesn't matter, providing its not illegal of course :)
There are no end of hosting providers - Webfusion, 123-reg.co.uk, Easily.co.uk, GoDaddy...

You basically buy the domain (the .com or .co.uk bit) and the hosting, then you install what you want to use for your blog (WordPress or whatever) and then go from there..

    No, it's not illegal :).

    Thanks for the extra information.

I've been using 123-reg.co.uk for nearly 10 years without problems. I'd probably go for the cheapest registrar.

As for hosting... if you look around you might be able to find a free web host. These usually have quite small limits on server space and bandwidth, but it's worked well for my tiny little web sites. Maybe worth considering temporarily until the site is fully operational?

Easily for as long as i can remember. buy i use 50webs to host my stuff.

    Works for me.

Lots of choices out there, depends if you want to pay for hosting.

I tried some free ones and they were awful, some would have to validate your site before going live to ensure nothing illegal gets posted.
Supposed to be within 24 hours but sometimes it took days with several complaints. A right PITA when you spot a spelling mistake and they want to validate it again.

  • I've used UK2 for years: https://www.uk2.net

Good prices, reliable hosting and decent customer support
