They don't need another full credit search. They already have my history which they can update any time they want. As I said, Aqua does it a lot. Maybe MBNA don't know how it works.
Anyway I am not in this life or the next going to agree to another credit search. MBNA are going to be knocked on the head instead!0 -

Banks do not see a customers credit profile 24/7 once you have an account with them, if you need further lending another credit search may need to be undertaken.
Also just because they say they are going to do one it does not mean they actually will. I have increased limits on my lloyds and barclaycard online without my credit search taking place when they say they will.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

Not true. Every time I get a limit increase on Aqua they refer to my good management of my credit but a credit search never appears on my credit history. Back in the mists of time Lowell credit searched me and then later when they failed to receive my notification of a change of address they found it on my credit history but no search was recorded on my credit history.
I could list numerous more examples of the above.
But how many people experience a new credit search before getting a limit increase? With the likes of Vanquis and Aqua who issue regular and frequent limit increases for example, the credit history would be literally packed with credit searches.
I'm concerned with what they say they will do and I don't speculate on what they might or might not do. A full credit search will most definitely affect other credit applications and I refuse to allow it. Simple.0 -
I'm pretty sure Aqua are talking about managing your account with them. In the past I've had similar messages when I'd just had a really bad year and my credit history was shot except for Aqua, as it was a tiny limit I couldn't do it much harm. As far as they were concerned without doing a search all they had to go on was my history with them.
You state the previous post to yours as 'not true' but I'm pretty sure you are wrong here. Conversely to not having credit searches on your file I have numerous searches from the same organisations who were obviously updating my file with the latest info. If they didn't have to search ey wouldn't, I'm not sure how you think it works - they dont get sent an update everytime you pay a bill, if ey want to see an update of your credit history they need to do a search. As stclair said its more likely at you are being told they are going to do a search and then don't actually do it, I guess it covers them as they have to tell you if they do it, by telling everyone everytime that they will do it hey don't risk getting in trouble.
All MBNA can see is your last credit history report they requested (if they kept it) and any transactions on your account with them, to see if you are now massively in debt with numerous cards and loans they will need to do a search. If you want an increase you will have to let them do a credit search, though chances are they won't bother if you run your account well with them. Personally I would let them, for the text in your signature is up to date they are giving you a good APR and there's lots of room for a limit increase and possibly further interest reductions in the future.0 -

9 times out of 10 it's based on internal data and a credit check doesn't take place. I work in a lending department and I can assure you a customers credit file is not available to us 24/7. Once the the credit search is done it's only viewable for 28 days.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0
