Late Payment Dispute

Hi,

I have some late payment markers on my experian credit file from around 4 years ago these seem to have sent the account into deliqant status which is affecting my score. However i dispute that these payment were made late.

This account was with a doorstep loan company Greenwoods where they would collect the cash each week. I have contacted experian to which greenwoods responded stating the data is accurate and i can dispute this with them myself should i wish to.

Please not that this account only appears on experian and not equifax and yes they all have the same addresses. The problem i have is i cannot prove payments were made on time since i always paid cash i believ the lady collecting has not registered my payment correctly when recieving them.

Is there a letter I can send asking the lender to provide me with the info to prove these payment were late? Or is it up to me to prove they was not?

Can i take this to any higher authority to get these removed?

Any advice is appriciated

Well you could try complaining to the FOS but first you will need to exhaust the formal complaints procedure with Greenwoods.

As it is 4 years ago, I suspect you are on very dodgy ground to dispute these payments now but you can certainly try.

Presumably that lady would have issued you with a receipt, showing date and amount of your weekly payments. If you haven't kept those, how can you prove the, presumably contemporary, entries of the loan company are wrong? Forget it!

That entry of your doorstep loan will be off your credit file in two years time anyhow. The fact that you were forced to use doorstep lenders is the big negative on your file, whether you paid it back on time or late doesn't make much difference.
