PPI Complaint review - deadline tomorrow.

I'm hoping someone will be kind enough to give me a little advice on how I should deal with my situation regarding a PPI complaint review.

I've received a letter from the Bank of Scotland last week asking if I would like for them to review a PPI claim I made in 2010. They've attached a questionnaire looking for more information on the claim.

I have tried to answer it but really can't remember what the situation was. I called them today and the guy from BOS said it related to a bank loan from 2002 and 2004. He said he could ask me a few questions over the phone but I was reluctant to answer as I felt put on the spot. He said he had to know "What my status was?" I told him I was unsure what he meant. Told him I was employed but could not remember much more than that. He was asking if I'd been claiming any benefits then which I hadn't. I told him I'd need to look at my paperwork and call him back.

The deadline on the letter is tomorrow. So I need to call them back by then. I have no idea what to say. Of course I want them to review their decision so don't want to mess up when I call. Any advice on what I should do or say?

Thanks for reading!

You tell them the truth of what you remember and that's it.

Well not much I can say then. Will probably just leave it. No point reviewing if I can't even remember how I took the loan.

    Thanks

No harm in just being honest and saying you don't remember (if you have no diary, no old bills / wage slips etc) - no harm in replying, they might find another failing with the sale and you get some money

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

You could be kissing goodbye to a windfall if you "leave it"

Just let them progress the review to it's conclusion. They may just find in your favour.

If you dont know then say so. not knowing if it was a long time ago is to be expected and does not mean you will fail.

  • I couldn't recall quite a few specific things; I just filled in what I could remember. If I'd given up, I would've missed out on ~£25k.

    In short, do it :)
