how to apply discount code to Amazon UK account?

I have a promo discount code for Amazon which I can use to get 75% off a film rental (I have a prime live video rental account). To redeem it, I have to apply it to my account. Apparently if I rent the film using one click, the discount code will not work. . I have to apply it to my account first. I have no idea how to do this? Can anyone help ?

Amazon discount codes are a pain in the a**! You cannot use them with 'one click', they have to be added at checkout. They cannot therefore be used with some items eg. electronic books etc which can only be bought with 'one click'.0
