Lloyds blocked my account

Alright, so used my account on some Chinese website and I think it shows as I used my card in China.

I have to go into the branch to get my account unblocked. They said they left me a voicemail with a code that I could of used to unlock it through the phone, couldn't find it, so have to go in with ID to confirm transactions.

Is this normal? and is it normal that I can't transfer money from my account? Do card blocks apply to the account too?

I haven't done anything wrong but paranoia is getting to me. What if they just say sorry and keep my 4k plus that's in the account.

This happened to anyone else? :(

I wouldn't say that it's normal to block the account if the card is supposedly compromised.

You can't be serious. Unless you owe them, a court order is needed for seizing money.

I think I must of tried using the card 4/5 times, you think that would of blocked the account?

I use this Netflix thingy on my computer that changes my location to USA. Maybe a sign in from a US location triggered it?

I should be OK though right? When I pop in with ID and stuff.

Oh and my passports cut from the bottom, I have a new once because I changed my name now. But haven't changed my name with the bank yet because I'm expecting a cheque :o which would be uncashable if I change it before it's cleared.

I don't know how I find myself in situations like this lol

    would have or would've

4/5 times is a more likely reason. And take both passports plus as many as possible other IDs and proofs of address.

Ok, will do. Hopefully they don't force me to change the bank account name straight away.
Will report back with what happens.

Thanks for the English lessons too.

    This will raise questions.

If you have a photocard driving license [EDIT: licence :)] which has your old name and the same address that the bank holds then bring that.

If not, bring your old passport, new passport and the documentation detailing your change of name (marriage certificate, deed poll, etc.).

No, haven't got my old driving license, they make you send it back or charge you £25. Should of just paid the £25 so I have ID in my old name too.

Yeah will do, going to take old passport, new one, change of name deed and some letters proving address.

Urgh, £25 to get a replacement driving licence but keep the old one? Heaven help me when I have to update my photo (in my 20's, very short and no passport.)

    Just an update.

Went in, after a ton of security checks got it unblocked. They said the reason for the block was because I only use it online and not physically.

It's pretty scary knowing the banks can just block access to all your money cash. Makes me think I should just stash cash in the house or buy gold.

Get a second account, or if you're comfortable with one, a credit card.

Surprised grumbler has not been back on telling you it is licence not license.
